MMEF & Te Rito Maioha are delighted to announce - graduates of the AMI 3-6 Diploma (Level 7) will automatically receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for 2 papers towards a B.Tchg. (ECE). This equates to about half a year of study which will be credited. Exciting news indeed!

Further details will be available early in 2018.

AMI 3-6 Diploma Course 2018 –Venue Announced and More!

We are delighted to confirm that the venue for the AMI 3-6 Course starting in July 2018 will be Kawai Purapura Retreat Centre, Albany. The Lotus Sanctuary with its tranquility, light and space will be the predominant venue for the course.

When is it?

Tuesday 17th to Saturday 21st April, 24th & 26th – 28th April (9 days). This allows for time in between to complete the 9 hours of observation.

As we all near the busy term of the year – this is a timely reminder for those of you considering applying IMG_9559for the AMI 0-3 Assistance to Infancy Diploma. To assist with the course arrangements MMEF require applications to be received by 15th December.

AMI 3-6 Certificate Course April 17th – 28th (9 days) in 2018

The previously muted dates for a Certificate course in January have been shelved and instead we are delighted to announce the dates of the receptaclenext 3-6 Certificate course: April 17th – 21st, 24th & 26th – 28th, 9 days in total. 3 days mid-course have been observed for completion of the 9 hours of observation as required.

The venue will be Yarnton House, Royal Oak, Auckland and Glendowie Montessori Preschool on the two Saturdays. The registration form will be available next week.

Level 7 AMI 3-6 Diploma & AMI 3-6 Trainer Celebrations!

MMEF is delighted to announce that the AMI 3-6 Diploma will remain on the NZQA framework though now as a new Level 7 Diploma. We are extremely pleased with this outcome!

In a nutshell – what does this mean?

- The AMI 3-6 (Level 7) is acknowledged by NZQA as meeting the rigour and quality of a Level 7 qualification.

- MMEF can accept international students on the AMI 3-6 course (Level 7) starting in July 2018.

- AMI 3-6 Course (Level 7) graduates (without a BTchg (ECE) will be able to gain cross credits towards the BTchg (ECE) with the Early Childhood Education Institute Te Rito Maioha. We are currently communicating with the tertiary provider to finalise exactly what this will look like for our students.

AMI Assistance to Infancy, 0-3 Diploma Course Venue

This peaceful, tranquil setting received glowing reviews from the attendees of the 0-3 Certificate Course last year. We cant wait to transform it into a home environment and infant community next year!

Due to the high level of interest in the AMI 3-6 Certificate Course, the next Certificate course has been confirmed for  April 2018 during the school holidays.

The dates are17th April – 21st April & 24th -28th April - 9 days (ex. Anzac day 25th April). Further details will be out very soon.

Proposed AMI 3-6 Certificate Course – in response to several enquiries e.g. “Do MMEF offer the AMI Certificate Course outside the school holidays?”. We are proposing to offer the 60 hour course in a different format, this time over 6 days from 15th – 20th January and 3 additional Saturdays 17th & 24th February & 3rd March in Auckland if there is sufficient interest.

Please let us know by end of 6th October if this format is of appeal to you or your team.

'Supporting Freedom, Self-Discipline & Language'  is a must weekend tailored for teachers, parents, whanau and anyone with a profound interest in the development of young children.

Here’s a snippet of what to expect:

  • Learn how to communicate with children to support and develop self-discipline – how to talk so that the young child will listen.
  • Discover practical strategies to establish routines, expectations and provide tamariki the ‘freedom with limits’ necessary for them to thrive.
  • Support the natural development of the child by understanding the principles of Montessori for those under 3: including; movement, communication, independence & self-discipline.

Latest News – 2 AMI Diploma Courses Starting in 2018!

Assistants to Infancy (0-3) Diploma course will begin in May 2018 with Julia Hilson – Director of Training.
At MMEF we’re still pinching ourselves to be offering training at the 0-3 level in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The demand for AMI training internationally is high yet being able to secure an AMI trainer at the 0-3 level was no mean feat!  
Julia Hilson, 0-3 AMI Trainer, has been juggling her commitments and has confirmed dates for the first and last modules, the 2nd and 3rd module dates will be finalised shortly.
Julia said, “I’m delighted to be able to strengthen the understanding of the importance of the first 3 years of life, in this part of the world”. We are delighted too! 
The 0-3 course will be offered over four 4-5 week modules (18 weeks in total, face to face delivery) plus observations, starting in May 2018 and concluding June 2019. *Dates may be subject to slight change*

 AMI 3-6 Diploma Course 2018 – 2020
Can you believe it – not 1 but 2 AMI Diploma Courses, 0-3 and 3-6 will be offered in New Zealand starting in 2018!
The AMI 3-6 Diploma Course Information Pack will be also be ready for you to access and download from the new look MMEF website. MMEF have included several payment options for centres, to coincide with funding payments.

Supporting Freedom, Self-Discipline  &  Language is a workshop designed for parents, whanau and educators.
Over these 2 days Ferne will provide a foundation of understanding plus leave you with a kete of skills to encourage positive behaviour in young children. Strategies for communicating with young children leading to the development of self-discipline will be amongst the topics explored. New 3-6 AMI Diploma Course Dates!

It was great to see so many of you at the recent conference in Hamilton and equally wonderful to be able to share our recent news – that the next 3-6 Diploma Course is now confirmed, with course dates beginning in 2018.

Following your feedback we’ve decided on a modular format with 3 and 4 week modules starting in July 2018. The application form and related information will appear on the MMEF website shortly.

Level 7 Diploma Application in Process

We’ve been busy aligning the AMI 3-6 Diploma to a Level 7 qualification and we’re almost ready to submit it to NZQA. As part of the process MMEF have been communicating with Wellington based ECE Training Provider Te Rito Maioha regarding possible pathways for AMI graduates without a B.Tech. (ECE).

Who by - Carol Potts, AMI Auxiliary 3-6 Trainer, will facilitate the course.
The venue - Waikato Montessori Education Centre, Hamilton.
The dates - Monday 10th July – Saturday 15th July. Tuesday 18th – Thursday 20th July. The hours will be 9-5p.m, with 1 day (Tuesday 18th July ) 12.30-8.30p.m.
The dates will include 2.5 days to complete the 9 hours of observation required as part of the course.
